RSL History
Post service in South Vietnam 1967-8, Rob joined the RSL in 1968 at the Dandenong RSL SubBranch but due to the nonacceptance of Vietnam Vets at that time drifted away from the RSL, in 2002 he rejoined at Ringwood Sub-Branch and became an active member of the Angling SubSection taking on the task as its Secretary.
In 2019 was co-opted onto the General Committee of the Sub-Branch and was nominated and elected to the position of Secretary of the Sub-Branch in 2020.
Qualifications
Prior to his National Service Robert was a qualified retail manager for Woolworths, which was the reason the military placed him in ASCO (Australian Services Canteen Organisation) as a canteen or issue point manager. Completing his National Service as a Corporal.
He has been a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics for some 40 years and served as State Chairman and National Councillor.
In 1988 he graduated from Monash University having completed the requirements for being awarded the Graduate Diploma in Logistics Management “Grad Dip Log Mgt”. He served some 6 years as a member of the Logistic Course Advisory Committee
Professional Experience
Post his service he gained experience in transport fleet and terminal management with Mayne Nickless 1968 – 1978 then joined G J Coles as National Controller of Transport bringing his retail and transport expertise together. Retiring from the Coles Group as Logistic Manager in 2006 after 29 years. He was responsible for the logistics planning, and distribution of retail merchandise.
Community Involvement
Prior to and post National Service, Rob was a volunteer Fireman with the CFA retiring due to Family and work commitments having served some 19+ years at both Doveton and Boronia CFA Stations.
